About the Intensive Care Foundation




1 in 2 Australians will require intensive care at some point in their lives.

Intensive care can touch anyone, at any age, through sudden illness, injury or unexpected events such as car accidents, heart attacks, stroke or severe infections. 

The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Foundation (ANZICF) supports the people, research and education behind life saving care. By funding high quality research, education and professional development, the Foundation helps ICU teams deliver the best possible outcomes for critically ill patients.

Thanks to decades of investment in research, education and training, Australia and New Zealand have some of the best intensive care survival rates in the world, now exceeding 90%. 

With your support, we can continue to advance research and education, strengthen ICU teams and improve both survival and quality of life for ICU patients and their families.

What we do

ANZICF is a not-for-profit organisation funding early career researchers and educators, supporting innovation and offering  professional development scholarships to enhance the skills of ICU professionals.

Thanks to the generosity of many individual donors and corporate supporters the Intensive Care Foundation to date has awarded grants of more than $5million to fund research aimed at increasing the survival rate of patients in critical care and improving the quality of life of those survivors.
